Re: Pagani Zonda R officially unveiledWahoo… Ford has finally relented, and after weeks of badgering the PR department we have plenty more pics of the production version of the Focus RS in Performance Blue, as driven by Flying Finn Marcus Gronholm last weekend at Wales Rally GB.

Re: Pagani Zonda R officially unveiledOh yes, the garage that can do just about anything with your Aston (including one DB5 owner having his converted to full ‘Bond’ spec) is holding a classic car auction that will be protested at.

Pagani Zonda R officially unveiled
Pagani has just officially unveiled the fastest, most hardcore Zonda ever built – the 739bhp 233mph Zonda R

Semi-legendary Italian supercar maestro Pagani has unveiled its latest, greatest supercar to date, the Pagani Zonda R. This most hardcore Zonda ever has been built as a swansong for the Zonda, before a new car – codenamed C9 – makes its debut next year.
As you can see from the pics, the Zonda R is inspired by the great Group C endurance racers of the 1980s, with its enormous wings and outrageous 700bhp per tonne power-to-weight ratio.
And despite the fact the R shares its name and some visual similarities with the previous Zonda supercars built by Pagani, the R is 90 percent new.
The Zonda R is built from a super-high-tech carbon fibre and titanium blend that costs four times as much as the material used on the original Zonda. The R is also wider, longer and lower than a Zonda F.
Under that steeply tapering rear bodywork is a 6.0-litre Mercedes V12 which produces 739bhp. This is connected to the rear wheels through Pagani’s first paddle shift gearbox, which changes gear in just 20 milliseconds.
And when you factor in that the Zonda R weighs 1,070kg, 0-62mph takes just 3.0 seconds, while top speed is set at 233mph depending on downforce settings.
Pagani also reckons that the Zonda R would be significantly quicker than the Zonda F’s 7min 28sec record Nürburgring lap.
And if you’re in the market for the ultimate track-day toy, 15 Zonda Rs will be built, plus one to keep at the factory for sentimental reasons. There are five left, priced at a mere €1.4m (£1.24m). Where do we sign?
