Bugatti 16C Galibier gets private unveiling
Words: George Chapman
The Bugatti 16C Galibier, a luxury four door Veyron with 1000hp and capable of 217mph. Unveiled not at Frankfurt but by private invitation only.
Following hot on the heels of the ground breaking and earth-shatteringly quick Veyron, the Galibier will pack a similar punch by way of a front mounted eight litre 16 cylinder motor with two-stage superchargers rather than the quad turbochargers’s found in it’s ‘little’ brother.

Power is a word that is always present around Bugatti nowadays and the Galibier is no different. An option of producing either 800hp or the full-fat 1000hp is available driving all four wheels.
Stopping this behemoth of a vehicle is a set of carbon ceramic brakes, but with no word of an air-brake that proved so effective on Bugatti’s two-seater variant.
Deemed a little too niche for Frankfurt this four door supercar will be unveiled at a much more exclusive, private Bugatti owners event in Molshiem, France.
Said to capable of 217mph, the Galibier is on track to become the worlds fastest four door production car and is also able to run on ethanol.
The body styling, inspired by the Type 35 and Type 57 models of old, is hand made from carbon fibre with polished aluminium wings and doors reducing weight and giving a fabulous finish throughout. We also love the eight exhaust pipes, suggesting at the mammoth power that lies within.
The interior certainly looks like a worthy place to enjoy a 200mph conversation, with the inclusion of a dash mounted Swiss watch and centrally mounted speedo that allows passengers to see what speed they are travelling at.
The price, if you must ask, means you probably cannot afford it, but expect little change from £1million. With regards to the competition, let’s just say that suddenly a Maybach looks rather slow and dull.
